What would be considered original art work ,when doing an oil painting?

Nothing that someone online tells you would be original. It would be someone else's idea.What would be considered original art work ,when doing an oil painting?
Original artwork is the original piece, a one of a kind item. Paintings, drawings, wood and clay sculpture fall into this category.





Objects that are done in editions (hand prints, photographs, molded sculpture) can also be considered originals because:


1. They can contain minute differences


2. They are the only form the artwork can exist (ie, a photographic negative isn't the artwork, but the print made from the negative is)





A reproduction can be any of the following:


1. A print made of a painting or drawing.


2. A print made of a photograph or hand print, not from the negative.


3. A cast made from an existing sculpture.What would be considered original art work ,when doing an oil painting?
Originality starts with the concept. The idea must be your own. You can be influenced by other artwork , in fact it is impossible not to be for most of us , but the vision should be yours. Then you must complete the work yourself. In the olden days an artist had a studio full of apprentices who did most of the actual work but these days who can afford such luxuries?
Original is empty your mind of everything you have ever seen and just paint.
Original means your own idea and design. Not a copy of another person's work.
