Can i stencil on oil based paint?

I just paited some seramic tile on our fire place with oil based paint and i was wondering if i could stencil paint animals and stuff on it has anyone done this or tryed this befor and did it workCan i stencil on oil based paint?
with respect, of course you can stencil on with oils or enamels...anything oil based. Just adjust the thickness of the paint vs the amount you put into a large round pounce-type brush and have at it. The thinner the paint used the less you have in the brush so it doesn't drip or slip behind the stencil. Fix the stencil to the surface with a light-bond painter's tape (so the tape doesn't damage your base paint) to assure the stencil doesn't shift. Use thicker paint, pulled into an evenly dense film - about the thickness of construction paper - on your palette, lightly load into your pounce with a straight up and down, even pressure tamping motion then apply it with the same motion. Naturally it needs to be undisturbed for as lkong as it takes to dry, but will work as well as the oil paint you put on the tiles in the first place. Can i stencil on oil based paint?
Unfortunately Kipp---no. At least, not unless you used an oil-based paint, which would be darn near impossible to stencil with, considering the length of the drying time.

Do you have an artistic friend who could do some hand-painting on your tiles in oil-based paint? This would be your best bet. If you don't know any artists, call your local high school or university and ask for the names of some talented students who might like a job.
