What's the difference b/w acrylic and oil painting?

i am planning to take up an art class so am deciding b/w the two...What's the difference b/w acrylic and oil painting?
Acrylics (water-based) don't smell as much, as you need linseed oil and turpentine for oils. Acrylics are also easier to clean - brushes and yourself afterwards.

I like oils, as one can blend better, but acrylics because they dry almost instantly and are therefore easier to transport or store.

Good luck with classes and have fun! What's the difference b/w acrylic and oil painting?
The difference in painting styles between oils and acrylics in minimal.

There are different mediums which can be used to make acrylics handle more like oils. Oils come from their tubes much like a paste but not all acrylics are like that. Some brands are more fluid and quite liquid.

Acrylics are more pleasant to work with because they are water based and do not require solvents like oils do.
Acrylic is a waterbased media that dries like a plastic. It means you can use water to thin it and mediums. With oil you need to use terpentine and linseed oil. Acrylic dries really fast while oil dries slower.

It would be easier to start with acrylic painting.
Acrylic is water based paint and oil is oil based paint, oil is thinned and cleaned with minerial spirits and acrylic is thinned and cleaned with water.
acrylic looks a little plasticy, oil paints look like paint.
