Is oil based paint as good as water based paint?

for painting the exterior of my homeIs oil based paint as good as water based paint?
A good exterior paint is designed to 'chalk away' as the years go on. When you begin to see the wood grains showing more prominently, through what is left of the paint, that is the time to re-paint. Many of these original paints are alkyd paints-meaning oil based. The oils in these paints protected the underlying wood surfaces,as long as some pigments remained in place. So if the wood is beginning to warp and curl, be sure to repaint with an oil-based,alkyd paint. This re-newing,of the oils, will stabilize the sheathing and trim, to stay stable for another 40 years. Windows ,after prep, may enjoy a linseed oil rubbed into them, before re-painting with an alkyd paint. This helps to Stabilize the wood and also stop the new paint from being prematurely sucked dry of its oils. A house done this way should only have to be painted 3 times, in a hundred years. Is oil based paint as good as water based paint?
It's generally better in durability.

Just more complicated to apply well.
I like oil based house paints or stains because they moreso ';seal'; the wood as compared to water based, which just ';sits on top';. Waterbased exterior paints are pretty good now though. I use benjamin moore all the time. But research some house stains and oil paints too.
