How do you make oil paints look good?

i want to paint a picture on canvas with oil paints but they seem tricky too use how do i make it look better? How do you make oil paints look good?
Lots of practice, some basic skills and lots of wasted paint and canvas while you're learning. Except for taking classes to learn certain techniques, there really aren't any shortcuts to becoming a skilled painter.

If you have a little natural talent and a lot of determination you will quickly enough improve. Just don't let yourself become too satisfied too quickly with your early efforts. And always try to be honest and objective with your advancing skill level. How do you make oil paints look good?
When i decided to learn to paint with oils, those are questions i also thought about. So i went to my local library and checked out as many books as i could get my hands on. Once i went through one librarys books on art i would go to another. With practice and through trial and error you will find your technique and style of painting. Don't take short cuts. I've been at it for five years, still studying books, still practicing, but most importantly having alot of fun. My art can be checked out at hellosanantonio.com under artist name GUERRO1.
on some paintings if you think you did a great job but you want it to shine like oil more you can take some olive oil put it on a napkin or towel and gently rub it onto where you want it to shine
What Doc W said. Plus it's worth buying a good book on oil painting technique and working through the lessons %26amp; assignments one at a time to build your skill and technique base. Youtube also has a few interesting videos.
