I've always worked with acrylic paint, and I know acrylic and oil are really different. So if you can give me some advice about working with oil paint that'd be nice. =]
And I have some questions about oil paints as well... Do you have to use a special cleaner for oil paint? How long does it take to dry? Can I used soft brushes or are thick best to use? Is it washable if it gets on clothes?...
And I think that's all. ^v^Questions about oil paint?
Oils are a lot easier to blend mostly because of the long drying time. a small amount can cover a lot of surface. the colors are pretty much permanent once painted on the canvas so its usually a good idea to blend on a palate before you apply it to the canvas. otherwise the new layers will just blend to the old ones if the paint isn't dry. you can't really add layers like acrylics.
you're going to need good ventilation, the chemicals are dangerous.
Turpentine is used as a cleaner or it can be used to thin the oils like water in acrylics. depending on the paint it could take from a couple of days to years to dry. i prefer to use larger brushes but any thick brush is effective. Usually something like oxi clean works to remove the paint from clothes
